VASHTI SUMMERVILL – VOCALS / PIANO / UKELELE / SONGWRITER
Vashti has both and undergraduate and a master’s degree in vocal performance. After college she spent several years as a musical theater performer in the Pacific Northwest including Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre, Seattle Civic Light Opera, Bumbershoot and the Oregon Cabaret Theatre.
After arriving in Boise, she began teaching music, directing choirs and directing musicals in a variety of educational settings, including Open Door Children’s Theater and Open Door Music Studio, both of which she founded. She co-founded and co-directed the BIG (Boise Intergenerational) Choir for 9 seasons.
Vashti also performs in a duo band with her husband, Chad Summervill.
She began studying blues and jazz piano in 2018 with the amazing Jonny May and began her journey of composing original tunes around the same time.
She has found her musical home playing with the June Babies and enjoys their mission of adding joy to the world, one song at a time.
PETRA SCHWARTHOFF – VIOLIN/VOCALS
Petra Schwarthoff was born and raised in Germany. After finishing Music College in Germany, she and her husband decided to embark on a 2-year adventure living in the United States of America.
Many years later they are still in America, have 3 wonderful children, and enjoy their lives together in beautiful Boise.
Petra has a Diploma in Music from Aachen, Germany and a Master’s in Music Education from Ithaca College. She played with different orchestras including the Cornell Baroque Ensemble, Westerville Symphony, and is currently playing with the Boise Baroque Orchestra.
A few years ago, she discovered the freedom of improvising and going off the written page and can be seen in the local bluegrass scene. Her new adventure is taking her into the swing area and she is loves playing and performing with the the June Babies.
